On the morning of March 20, the 2025 Global South Financiers Forum was convened in Beijing. Fu Hua, President of Xinhua News Agency, and Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, addressed the main forum, which was moderated by Lyu Yansong, Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency.

Fu Hua stated that in today’s world, the Global South has become a crucial force in the transformation of the international order. Hosting the Global South Financiers Forum represents yet another innovative practice in vigorously advocating openness and integration, and leveraging financial cooperation to boost the development of the Global South and drive changes in global governance. Xinhua News Agency is ready to join hands with all parties to deepen mutual understanding and trust, and contribute to the common development and prosperity of Global South countries.

According to Yin Yong, as a collective of emerging markets and developing countries, the Global South is exerting growing influence on the world economy and playing a more important role in building a community with a shared future for mankind. Beijing, which hosts central financial regulators, headquarters of numerous financial institutions, and international financial organizations, serves as the national financial management center, with the financial sector as an important pillar for its economy. Today, finance has emerged as an essential bond connecting the world economy, while financial cooperation serves as a pivotal growth driver and a vital pathway to common development.

The event brought together domestic and international financial leaders, heads of institutions, and experts to explore financial models tailored to the development needs of the Global South under the theme of “Illuminating Global South”. Their discussions would surely inject fresh impetus into the stability and prosperity of the global economy.

Leaders of relevant central departments also attended the forum.
