On the morning of February 6, 2025, President Xi Jinping met with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is in China for an official visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping pointed out that The friendship between China and Thailand has been cherished for millennia, and the bond of “China and Thailand being one family” grows ever stronger with time. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations half a century ago, the two countries have adhered to mutual respect, equality, sincerity, mutual trust and mutual assistance, and have always firmly supported each other in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship." The two sides should build on past achievements and work hand in hand to deliver more solid progress in the building of the China-Thailand community with a shared future and deliver more benefits to the two peoples and to the region and the world at large.
Xi Jinping stressed that in the face of profound changes unseen in a century, China and Thailand should consolidate strategic mutual trust, firmly support each other, and respond to uncertainties in the external environment with the stability and certainty of China-Thailand relations. China is ready to work with Thailand to synergize development strategies, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, implement well flagship projects such as the China-Thailand Railway, and push for more outcomes of the vision of interconnected development of China, Laos and Thailand at an early date. The two sides should deepen cooperation in emerging areas such as the digital economy and new energy vehicles, and work together to build more stable and unimpeded industrial and supply chains. China appreciates Thailand's effective measures to crack down on online gambling and telecom fraud. The two sides should continue to strengthen law enforcement, security and judicial cooperation, safeguard people's lives and property, and maintain the order of exchanges and cooperation among regional countries. The two sides should deepen mutual understanding and amity, jointly organize colorful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and create more projects that will deliver real benefits to the people to their satisfaction, so that China-Thailand friendship will be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and passed on from generation to generation. China supports Thailand's role as co-chair of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and congratulates Thailand on becoming a BRICS partner country. China is ready to maintain close communication and cooperation with Thailand to firmly defend the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, enhance unity and cooperation in the Global South, safeguard world peace and promote common development.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra said that she is glad to visit China on the occasion of the "Golden Jubilee of Thailand-China Friendship". Over the past 50 years, Thailand-China relations have gone through ups and downs, always helped each other for common development, always trusted and respected each other's core interests, and established a special friendly and cooperative relationship. Thailand firmly pursues the one-China policy and looks forward to working with China to strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance cooperation in connectivity, economy, trade, agriculture and other fields, and promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people affinity, to usher in the next 50 years of shared peace and common prosperity for the benefit of future generations. Thailand is willing to strengthen law enforcement cooperation with China and other neighboring countries, and take resolute and effective measures to crack down on cross-border crimes including online gambling and telecom fraud. Noting that China has always played its role as a responsible major country in international affairs and firmly safeguarded the interests of developing countries, she said Thailand is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China to jointly cope with global challenges.
