Xi Jinping Holds Talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov

On the morning of February 5, 2025,  President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People in  Beijing with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, who is on a state visit to  China.

Xi Jinping pointed out that  linked by mountains and rivers, China and Kyrgyzstan are good neighbors,  good friends and good partners enjoying close people-to-people ties.  Over the years, China-Kyrgyzstan relations have realized leapfrog growth  and reached the new height of a comprehensive strategic partnership for  a new era. The two sides have continuously consolidated political  mutual trust and seen fruitful results from cooperation in various  fields, which increasingly strengthened the social and popular  foundation for building a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared  future. China supports Kyrgyzstan in pursuing a development path suited  to its national conditions, and is ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to  further synergize development strategies, expand sharing of governance  experience, advance all-round mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly  safeguard the common interests of the two countries, and promote more  substantive progress in building a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a  shared future.

Xi Jinping emphasized  that the two sides should continue to explore new ideas, focus on  high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and deepen mutually beneficial  cooperation. China is willing to continue to expand economic, trade and  investment cooperation, import more quality goods from Kyrgyzstan,  support more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in  Kyrgyzstan, and hope that Kyrgyzstan will earnestly protect the  legitimate rights and interests of Chinese investors. Xi Jinping called  on the two countries to comprehensively enhance connectivity, and build  the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway with high standards and high  quality, while renovating and modernizing existing ports and opening  more passenger and freight flights to further facilitate the flow of  people and goods between the two countries. The two sides should expand  cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, big data, artificial  intelligence and other new quality productive forces to create fresh  growth drivers. Xi Jinping urged the two countries to ensure the sound  operation of the Chinese Culture Center, Luban Workshop and Confucius  Institute, strengthen exchanges at the sub-national level, and cultivate  more forces dedicated to China-Kyrgyzstan friendship. China is ready to  work closely with Kyrgyzstan to upgrade cooperation under the  China-Central Asia mechanism, make the Shanghai Cooperation Organization  (SCO) more substantive and stronger, safeguard the international system  with the United Nations at its core, implement the Global Development  Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization  Initiative, and jointly build a community with a shared future for  mankind.

Sadyr Japarov said that it was a great pleasure for him to visit China  at the beginning of the New Year and extended his best Chinese New Year  wishes to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people, and wished China  success in hosting the 9th Asian Winter Games. Under President Xi  Jinping's leadership, China has made remarkable achievements on the  journey of realizing the two centenary goals, shared the fruits of  development with other countries, and carried forward the fine  traditional Chinese culture while moving toward modernization, setting  an example for the world. Kyrgyzstan is willing to learn from China's  successful experience. Kyrgyzstan and China enjoy a long history of  friendly exchanges. Noting that bilateral relations have been elevated  to a new level in recent years, he said China is a reliable friend and  partner of Kyrgyzstan. Close cooperation between various departments and  at the sub-national level has yielded fruitful results. Kyrgyzstan is  willing to continue to firmly support China on the Taiwan question and  issues related to Xinjiang and Hong Kong. Kyrgyzstan is ready to work  with China to achieve more results in building a Kyrgyzstan-China  community with a shared future, pursue high-quality Belt and Road  cooperation, ensure the success in building the  China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway as the "silk road on steel rail",  and advance cooperation in industry, investment, trade, transportation,  e-commerce, education, and other areas. In the face of complex changes  in the international and regional situations, Kyrgyzstan is ready to  work closely with China to push for greater development of the SCO and  the China-Central Asia mechanism, actively implement the three global  initiatives, and jointly safeguard regional and world peace and  stability.

Following the talks, the two heads of state jointly signed the Joint  Statement between the People's Republic of China and the Kyrgyz Republic  on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for a New Era, and  witnessed the signing of the cooperation plan for the Belt and Road  Initiative as well as a number of cooperation documents in the fields of  diplomacy, economy, trade and agriculture.

Prior to the talks, Xi Jinping and his wife  Peng Liyuan held a welcome ceremony for Sadyr Japarov and his wife  Aigul Japarova at the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

A  21-gun salute was fired at Tian'anmen Square. The guard of honor lined  up in salutation. As the two heads of state stepped onto the stand, the  military band played the national anthems of China and Kyrgyzstan.  Accompanied by Xi Jinping, Sadyr Japarov reviewed the honor guard of the  People's Liberation Army and watched the march-past.

At  noon on the same day, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan held a welcome banquet  for Sadyr Japarov and his wife at the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of  the People.
