On  November 15, 2024, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to  the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference and congratulated the  Confucius Institute on the 20th anniversary of its establishment.

Xi  Jinping noted that language is a tool for human beings to exchange  thoughts, a carrier for inheriting civilization, and a bridge for  enhancing understanding. The Chinese language, which encapsulates the  millennia-old wisdom of the Chinese nation, is an important public  cultural product that China has contributed to the world. China's  responsibility as the native-language country is to support and serve  the international community in conducting Chinese language education.

Xi  Jinping emphasized that international Chinese education is widely  popular, demonstrating the charm of openness and inclusiveness,  showcasing the value of mutual learning and appreciation, embodying the  spirit of win-win cooperation, and crystallizing the shared efforts of  people from China and abroad. Xi expressed the hope that the World  Chinese Language Conference will break new ground while upholding  fundamental principles, enhance interconnection and integration, build  consensus among all parties, and strive to build bridges of lingual  connectivity, understanding and mutual trust, and mutual learning  between civilizations, thus making new and greater contributions to  jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Hosted  by the Chinese Ministry of Education, the 2024 World Chinese Language  Conference, themed "Interconnection, Integration, Inheritance,  Innovation", kicked off in Beijing on the same day. Over 2,000  participants attended the conference, including government officials,  school principals, experts, scholars, representatives of teachers and  students, and diplomatic envoys to China from more than 160 countries  and regions.
