Recently, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Morten Wierod, President and CEO of ABB Ltd, Switzerland.
Yin highlighted China’s commitment to deepening reform and achieving high-quality development through high-level opening-up, with enhanced internal driving force and stable economic growth. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China set out a new blueprint for China’s reform and opening up, sending a strong signal to the world of China’s firm resolve to further reform and open up. As the capital, Beijing has unique advantages, including abundant sci-tech and educational resources, high concentration of headquarters and R&D centers of foreign-invested enterprises, and strong momentum coupled with a robust industrial system in intelligent manufacturing industries, such as automobiles and robotics. Beijing is building itself into a green and smart city, promoting the green transition in production and lifestyles. These efforts will create new development opportunities for enterprises worldwide. He expressed his hope for ABB to expand its investment and business operations in Beijing and deepen bilateral cooperation in areas such as intelligent manufacturing and R&D and applications of green technologies, thereby increasing mutual benefit. Beijing will further implement the “service packages” and “steward services” mechanisms, continuously optimizing the business environment and offering support to enterprises across the city.
Morten expressed his gratitude for the long-standing support that Beijing has provided to ABB, emphasizing Beijing’s role as a strategic hub for ABB’s expansion in China and reiterating the group’s dedication to establishing a strong presence in Beijing and actively participating in the Chinese market. ABB will continue to strengthen its innovation and operational capabilities in Beijing, and deepen cooperation in areas such as environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing, and smart city.
