On the afternoon of September 12, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), who came to Beijing for the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).
Yin stated that the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made systematic plans for further deepening all-round reform to advance Chinese modernization. The session calls for an effective system for the comprehensive management of intellectual property rights, providing a clear roadmap for advancing reforms in the intellectual property sector. Placing great emphasis on intellectual property protection, Beijing has been improving its intellectual property protection system and public services while encouraging the transformation and utilization of intellectual property. These efforts have yielded significant results, providing strong support for technological innovation and laying a solid foundation for accelerating Beijing’s development as a center for technological innovation. Beijing maintains close communication and a strong cooperative relationship with WIPO. It is hoped that the two sides will deepen collaboration in areas such as intellectual property management, utilization, transformation, and talent development, to support Beijing’s sci-tech innovation and intellectual property development, ultimately building the city into a center for technological innovation.
Daren highly praised Beijing’s achievements in advancing sci-tech innovation, as well as its impressive progress in developing an intellectual property protection system in recent years. He expressed a willingness to continue playing an active role in supporting Beijing’s intellectual property protection efforts, enhancing joint talent cultivation, and contributing to the city’s sci-tech innovation and open development.
Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
