On the morning of August 29, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Masahiko Kato, President and CEO of Mizuho Bank in Japan.
Yin Yong stated that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) outlined a new blueprint for China’s reform and opening-up. The session proposed more than 300 significant and systematic reform measures for further deepening reforms across the board to advance Chinese modernization, injecting strong impetus into China’s high-quality economic growth and offering new opportunities for in-depth cooperation between enterprises from different countries. Since the beginning of this year, Beijing has been advancing high-quality development, with positive momentum in sci-tech innovation and high-end, precision, and cutting-edge industries. The economy has also registered sustained recovery and growth. Beijing is taking steady steps to promote high-level opening-up with a focus on institutional opening-up, emphasizing the financial sector as a key area for opening up the service industry. This creates ample opportunities for foreign enterprises to expand their business in the city. He encouraged Mizuho Bank to continue its proactive involvement in the open development of Beijing’s financial sector and expand its business presence in the city. He also hoped that the Bank can help attract more Japanese-funded enterprises to invest and develop in Beijing and participate in the development of the Beijing China-Japan Innovation & Cooperation Demonstration Zone, thereby promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Beijing will further optimize the business environment and leverage “service package” and “steward services” mechanisms to deliver high-quality services for various enterprises in the city.
Masahiko Kato spoke highly of the achievements of Beijing’s economic and social development, stating that Beijing is an important partner for Mizuho Bank in China. He expressed the willingness to continue exploring the Chinese market, stay committed to Beijing by expanding its business presence, and promote investment opportunities and the business environment of Beijing, thereby attracting more Japanese enterprises to invest and develop in the city.
Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
