On the afternoon of July 30, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul.
Yin Yong emphasized that China and the ROK are close neighbors and important partners. This May, Premier Li Qiang attended the 9th ROK-Japan-China Trilateral Summit in Seoul and held talks with President Yoon Suk Yeol. The two leaders reached important consensus on enhancing dialogue, deepening economic and trade cooperation, and promoting people-to-people and youth exchanges. Beijing and Seoul, as the two capitals, have been playing an exemplary role in driving subnational exchanges between the two countries. Since their twining 31 years ago, the two sister cities have seen continuous growth of their relations. In particular, through the Beijing-Seoul Joint Committee, the pragmatic cooperation between the two sides has gone deeper. Beijing stands ready to work with Seoul to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders. Going forward, the two sides will expand areas for exchange and cooperation, strengthen mutual learning in urban development and management, deepen economic and trade collaboration, and broaden people-to-people exchanges. This will help elevate the relationship between the two cities to new heights and contribute to China-ROK relations.
Oh Se-hoon highlighted the importance of exchanges and cooperation between the two cities and expressed readiness to strengthen experience sharing in urban management and expand cooperation in fields such as economy, trade and culture, thereby contributing to the friendship between the two cities.
Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
