On the morning of June 25, a work deployment meeting was held to discuss the preparations for the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, presided over the meeting.
The meeting pointed out that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and is a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks outlined in the “14th Five-Year Plan”. To implement the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee and serve the overall work of the Party and the country, we should ensure the success of the 2024 CIFTIS, making it a vivid practice in pursuing high-standard opening up, cultivating new quality productive forces, and creating a new pattern of development. It stressed the need to expedite preparations for major activities, especially in terms of inviting key guests and ensuring good services for their attendance and protocol affairs. Well-targeted negotiation and trading activities will be organized to showcase the nation’s unwavering determination to expand its opening-up. Delivering higher-quality services is crucial to providing a more comfortable and convenient experience for both domestic and foreign participants. Emphasis should be placed on producing practical results to establish a global cooperation platform. This includes providing comprehensive and whole-process services to meet the demands of enterprises, enhancing the trading capabilities of CIFTIS, and strengthening investment promotion to attract more foreign investors to Beijing. Moreover, it is important to expand spillover effects of CIFTIS, stimulating economic growth through exhibitions.
The meeting highlighted the goal of delivering an event with distinctive characteristics to steer the global development of trade in services. It called for innovative forms and substantive content in exhibitions to showcase the latest achievements across various fields. The quality of meetings and negotiations should be guaranteed to facilitate exchanges, in an effort to identify development directions for industries, seek growth opportunities for various regions, and assist enterprises in market expansion. Achievements release should focus on frontier areas and promoting shared benefits to establish a global benchmark for the development of trade in services. In addition, it is essential to showcase Beijing’s top-notch urban environment, and foster a favorable social climate. Efforts should also be made to conduct effective online and offline communication to steadily enhance promotion work.
All authorities should fulfill their responsibilities to ensure the safety and orderliness of all activities. The meeting called for enhanced coordination with the Ministry of Commerce to further refine implementation plans, ensuring clear processes, effective measures, and clearly-defined responsibilities. Drills for emergency plans should be further improved to enhance the capability to deal with unexpected situations. It is also important to leverage technologies to avoid and address various risks and hazards. Frugality should be upheld in the organization of the event to improve work efficiency. Relevant municipal departments should earnestly implement their respective tasks, with districts delivering quality supporting services.
