On the afternoon of June 28, Mayor of Beijing Yin Yong met with Brendan O’Callaghan, Executive Vice President and Head of Manufacturing and Supply at Sanofi.
Yin Yong stated that, in the medical and health sector, Beijing, as the capital of China, boasts rich resources in technology, education, and talent, along with a solid industrial foundation and innovation ecosystem. In recent years, leveraging the “two zones” initiative, Beijing has steadily advanced high-standard opening-up with a focus on institutional opening-up, and continued to foster a market-oriented, law-based, and accessible business climate in keeping with international standards. Pilot reform measures in the medical and health sector have generated strong growth momentum. He encouraged Sanofi, a globally renowned pharmaceutical company, to tap into Beijing’s rich resources to increase its R&D input and industrial and supply chain footprint in the city. Furthermore, he hoped that Sanofi will deepen industry-university-research collaboration with local enterprises and institutions to promote high-quality development of the medical and health sector. Beijing will further optimize its “service package” and “service steward” mechanisms to deliver quality services for various enterprises developing and investing in the city.
Brendan O’Callaghan highly praised Beijing’s business environment and service quality for enterprises and highlighted that Sanofi has witnessed and participated in China’s reform and opening-up process, as well as Beijing’s development. The group remains committed to developing in the Chinese market and increasing its R&D and production efforts in Beijing, so as to benefit more patients.
Zeng Jin, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
