ROME, May 28 (Xinhua) – At the invitation of the Italian Democratic Party, Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, led a CPC delegation to Italy from May 25 to 28. During the visit, Yin held separate meetings with Italian Senate President Ignazio La Russa, Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, head of the Italian Democratic Party’s foreign affairs department Giuseppe Provenzano, Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, and Mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, among others.

Yin said China and Italy share a long-lasting friendship and extensive common interests. Under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Mattarella, the two countries have maintained high-level bilateral relations through mutual trust and close cooperation. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. China is ready to work with Italy to renew the traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen economic and trade cooperation, and promote people-to-people exchanges, so as to benefit the two peoples and safeguard world peace, stability, development, and prosperity. The CPC is willing to promote exchanges and mutual learning in governance with all political parties in Italy. Beijing will follow through on the important consensus of the two heads of state and inject new impetus into China-Italy relations through subnational cooperation.

The Italian side said that Italy and China are two ancient civilizations with a profound friendship. Facing a turbulent and changing world, Italy regards China as a responsible comprehensive strategic partner. The country is willing to take an open attitude to facilitate exchanges at various levels and strengthen cooperation in areas such as green transformation, digital economy, culture, and tourism. Italy welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in Italy, as the cooperation between the two countries will surely help steer global development in the right direction.

Yin also visited the China-Italy Technology Transfer Center and the Capitoline Museums to gain insights into innovation center and cultural center development, and attended the “Hello, Beijing” cultural exchange event.
