On April 29, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Johann Löhn, Honorary President of the Steinbeis Foundation.

Yin highlighted Beijing’s rich resources in education and technology, vast talent pool, as well as the strong development momentum of high-end, precision, and cutting-edge industries. The city has fostered two industrial clusters in new-generation information technology and sci-tech services, each with an annual output value of over one trillion yuan. With “three science cities and one demonstration area” as pivotal platforms, Beijing has introduced a series of measures to promote the commercialization of technological advances and turn them into real productivity as the city expedites efforts to build itself into an international innovation center. The Steinbeis Foundation, as a globally renowned technology transfer institution with abundant experience in the sector, is expected to leverage its advantages to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Beijing in sci-tech innovation and commercialization of sci-tech outcomes. The two sides could explore a joint training mechanism for sci-tech talent, and work together to build an innovation ecosystem that enables efficient collaboration between industries, universities, research institutes, and end-users. Moving forward, Beijing will continue to optimize the business environment and improve the “service package” and “service steward” mechanisms, supporting the development of Beijing-based enterprises with high-quality services.

Löhn expressed willingness to join Beijing’s endeavor to build itself into an international innovation center. The Steinbeis Foundation will leverage its global innovation network to step up cooperation with Beijing in such aspects as commercialization of technological advances and professional talent training, in pursuit of win-win results.
