Recently, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Ms. Ho Chiu King, Pansy Catilina ("Ms. Pansy Ho"), President of General Association of Macau Beijing Organization, and Chairman of Shun Tak Holdings.
Yin said that in recent years, we have witnessed deepening exchanges and cooperation between Beijing and Macao. Last year, the first meeting of the Beijing-Macao Cooperation Conference heralded a new start for cooperation between the two cities. Upholding unwavering patriotism and love for Macao, the General Association of Macau Beijing Organization has played a crucial role in advancing exchanges and cooperation between Beijing and Macao. Beijing is now implementing the new Master Plan, which calls for unremitting efforts to build the city a world-class metropolis that is harmonious and livable with high-quality growth and reduced input. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region. It is hoped that the member companies and institutions of the General Association will contribute to Beijing-Macao cooperation, especially in terms of sci-tech innovation, culture, tourism, and digital economy, by taking an active part in building Beijing into an international innovation center and international consumption center city with their advantages and expanding their investment and presence in the city. Beijing will serve the growth of the General Association members and facilitate the life and work of Hong Kong and Macao compatriots in Beijing through the implementation of the country's policies and measures that support the development of Hong Kong and Macao residents in the mainland.
Ms. Pansy Ho expressed admiration for Beijing's socio-economic achievements in the past year, saying that the General Association will better play its role as a bridge and seize the opportunities presented by Beijing's development to build more platforms for exchanges and cooperation. This will enable the two places to intensify cooperation in areas like exhibition, culture, tourism, transportation, and health, as well as encourage more Macao companies and young people to engage in innovation, entrepreneurship, and people-to-people exchanges in Beijing.
Yang Jinbai, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department; and Mu Peng, Secretary General of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
