On July 8, the Organizing Committee of Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum) held its second plenary meeting in Beijing. Liu He, Vice Premier of the State Council and head of the Organizing Committee, presided over and addressed the meeting. Cai Qi, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and first deputy head of the Organizing Committee, attended the meeting.

It was pointed out at the meeting that the ZGC Forum is a state-level platform geared toward global exchanges and cooperation in the field of science, technology, and innovation, as emphasized by General Secretary Xi Jinping in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2021 ZGC Forum. China sets great store by science, technology, and innovation, and is committed to enhancing global collaboration on this front. We will strengthen international sci-tech exchanges with an even more open mind to enhance the well-being of humanity. We must study and implement the instructions of General Secretary Xi in his speech, develop a good understanding of the significance and the historical mission of ZGC Forum in serving the country's overall development, support Zhongguancun in carrying out a new round of pilot reforms, and accelerate efforts to build Zhongguancun into a world-leading science and technology park.

It was pointed out at the meeting that this year's forum, themed "Open Cooperation for a Shared Future", will demonstrate China's determination to promote open cooperation and work with other countries to deal with common challenges such as climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. The forum will consolidate global consensus and make new contributions to global collaboration and exchanges on science, technology, and innovation.

It was emphasized at the meeting that we should advance all the preparatory work with high quality to ensure the success of the 2022 ZGC Forum. First, we should make the forum more international by widely inviting guests. Second, we should make the forum more professional by carefully planning parallel forums and releasing high-quality outcomes. Third, we should make the forum more influential by strengthening promotion and media coverage. Fourth, we should attach great importance to epidemic prevention and control and develop response plans.
