On the afternoon of September 24th, the 5th China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation was held in Beijing. Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang gave a keynote speech and Chen Jining, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing delivered a welcome speech.

According to Wang Zhigang, the China-CEE on Innovation Cooperation Conference has been successfully held four times and has become an important and influential platform for cross-regional cooperation in science and technology innovation. China is always committed to carrying out extensive and in-depth science and technology cooperation and exchanges with Central and Eastern European countries, joining hands to address global issues and challenges, and promoting a community of shared future for humankind.

We are willing to deepen international science and technology exchanges and cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries, increase science and technology exchanges in response to the pandemic, jointly carry out scientific research, build international science and technology cooperation networks, and join hands to address challenges; focus on green development, carry out research and development cooperation on digital economy, smart city and other fields, spur the accelerated development of new technologies and new business models, and empower economic recovery; build more effective exchange and cooperation platforms, hold seminars on technology transfer and science and technology parks to consolidate the basis of cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges; smooth the application of coordination mechanism, strengthen policy integration, build innovation think tank and cooperation network, discuss science and technology cooperation planning, promote open and integrated science and technology innovation and build a science and technology innovation community.

Chen Jining expressed his warm congratulations on the conference. In his words, Beijing is one of the most active cities in the world in terms of innovation and entrepreneurship. It is also the bridgehead for China's opening to the outside world and international cooperation. In recent years, Beijing and the capital cities of Central and Eastern European countries have carried out multi-dimensional exchanges and cooperation on the construction of scientific research platforms and joint research and development, which have witnessed positive outcomes. This year, the conference was held in Beijing for the first time, on the sidelines of the ongoing 2021 Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum), providing an important platform for deepening international science and technology exchanges and cooperation. Beijing will further strengthen international science and technology innovation cooperation, actively integrate into the global innovation network, build a more open innovation system, gather and optimize the distribution of innovation factors, create a better innovation environment, and accelerate the construction of the National Center for Science and Technology Innovation. We warmly welcome friends over the world to come to Beijing to start a business, make innovations and share new opportunities of Beijing's development.

Branko Ružić, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Zdravko Počivalšek, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia, and other guests from Central and Eastern European countries delivered their speeches via video links. Focusing on the topic "Open Innovation and Shared Development", the guests shared their development experience, put forward cooperation plans and looked to the future.

Jin Wei, Vice Mayor of Beijing, Dai Binbin, Secretary General of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, some government officials of Central and Eastern European countries and envoys to China, relevant central department units, some provincial and municipal authorities and representations of enterprises attended the conference online and offline respectively.
