On the afternoon of May 9, Cai Qi, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, held a virtual meeting with Daimler AG Chairman Ola Källenius.
Cai Qi thanked Daimler for supporting the city's epidemic control effort and the manufacturing operations in Beijing. He said that when facing the sudden outbreak, the two sides have overcome difficulties, helped each other, and coordinated the resumption of production, and what happened between us is a good example of strategic partnership. Beijing is now effectively implementing the central government's decisions about regular epidemic containment and resumption of production and work. As the situation continues to improve, the market is gaining momentum in an orderly manner. China's opening up will not be obstructed or stalled by the epidemic. Beijing has been a wonderful destination for foreign investment in the past and will remain so in the future. He expressed his hope that the two sides will work closely together to advance the joint venture's epidemic control and production resumption, help stabilize the global supply chain and industry chain, develop innovative auto sales models, and minimize the impact of the epidemic. Beijing will promote greater openness, continuously optimize the business environment, and provide better tailor-made services. He hoped that Daimler will continue its presence in Beijing and form a closer strategic alliance with BAIC Group, so as to accelerate the progress in major projects, introduce more competitive models, processes and projects, jointly expand the market and achieve a higher level of cooperation that will benefit both parties.
Källenius spoke highly of Beijing's achievements in containing the epidemic and resuming production. He thanked the government for providing anti-epidemic support to Daimler and expressed confidence in the Chinese market. The company will actively promote further strategic cooperation with BAIC Group with increased technology and R&D investment in Beijing, and jointly maintain the global supply chain and industry chain.
Other municipal leaders attending the meeting included Cui Shuqiang and Yin Yong.
