On September 16, Mr. Feng Jian, member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Government, said that three  first-of-its-kind lists including a list of key tasks, a list of major projects, and a list of innovation policies were compiled in the "Plan of Beijing Municipality for Strengthening Its Development as the Center for International Exchanges during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period."

In the list of key tasks, the overall development goal put forward in the Plan is broken down into 151 specific tasks. Responsible offices and detailed timelines are stipulated respectively to ensure the task implementation. In the list of innovation policies, 31 innovation policies are put forth based on the pressing needs of improving Beijing's role as the center for international exchanges.

In the list of major projects, 78 major projects that focus on the positioning of Beijing as the center for international exchanges are selected across the city, covering 16 districts as well as the Economic-Technological Development Area.

Among these major projects, the expansion and improvement project of Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Resort, Yanbai Manor Renovation Project, begun in 2019. The manor has a planned total area of 31,000 square meters and will become a new landmark of Yanqi Lake International Conference Resort when completed. The upgrading project, designed and led by the Pritzker Prize laureate Wang Shu, dean of the School of Architecture of the China Academy of Art, draws inspiration from the landscape painting masterpiece "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains" of the Northern Song Dynasty, marrying architectural features of the Song Dynasty with modern elements.

Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) will commence this year and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2024. Once completed, NCIEC's phase I and II will occupy over 300,000 square meters of gross exhibition space. Housing exhibition halls, a conference center, a hotel, and an experience-based retail complex, Phase II will significantly expand the Centre's exhibition space and capacity with better services, increasing the overall competitiveness of Beijing's convention and exhibition industry.

Settled in Daxing District, the Sino-Japan Innovation Cooperation Demonstration Zone is the first and only international innovation cooperation demonstration zone in China with the theme of innovation cooperation. In addition, the Sino-Germany International Cooperation Industrial Park project under the theme of economic and technical cooperation will become an important platform promoting international industrial innovation and open cooperation.
