The China Association for Science and Technology announced on May 1 that the main structure of the National Communication Center for Science and Technology is capped within the last few days.

The National Communication Center for Science and Technology is a state-level public service platform for science and culture with the innovation and development of science and technology communication services. It is also one of Beijing's key projects for promoting the establishment of the capital city's role as an international exchange center. The National Communication Center for Science and Technology is located at the northernmost end of the Olympic Sports Center Area's cultural complex, adjacent to and across the road from the China Science and Technology Museum.

The architectural design of the National Communication Center for Science and Technology seeks to display the charm of science, technology, structure, and innovation, aiming to become a window front for science and technology communication, an inclusive carrier of scientific spirit, a cutting-edge space for science and culture, and a holy palace of science and technology.

According to the admission of the China Association for Science and Technology, the design and construction of the National Communication Center for Science and Technology have high requirements, great difficulties full of challenges, and new concepts. Quite a number of new technologies are used in its structural construction. For example, the 58-meter-span dome on the top floor of the building adopts a multi-layer prestressed large cantilever structure and a rigid-flexible prestressed dome structure, which is this technique's first application in China.

The National Communication Center for Science and Technology officially commenced its construction in October 2019, with a building area of over 62,640 square meters. It is expected to be completed in 2022 and opened to the public in 2023, and is expected to provide the public with high-quality public services for science and technology communication.
