The initial phase of Universal Beijing Resort covers an area of approximately 1.69 square kilometers, featuring the Universal Studios Beijing theme park comprised of seven themed attractions, the Universal CityWalk and two resort hotels.

At the theme park's main entrance, the eye-catching geodesic sphere has been completed. Across a square, the white Chinese and English name plates of “Universal Studios Beijing” have made their appearance. “This area is expected to be completely illuminated by this year, and the hotels have also been furnished,” said a manager of Universal Beijing Resort.

The seven themed lands of Universal Studios Beijing are still under construction. In the Hollywood-themed land, the featured buildings on both sides of the street have begun to take shape. The giant rockery on Isla Nublar (a site in the film Jurassic World) has been unveiled. In other themed attractions, a number of riding equipment and large installations have been set up and builders are working on installation and debugging. The resort's auxiliary projects on electrical and mechanical installation, decoration, gardening, and municipal engineering are underway.

According to the manager of the resort, at present, the total number of managerial staff from both China and the United States participating in the project and construction personnel of the 16 sub-projects is over 20,000, realizing full capacity at peak construction. Since hundreds of domestic suppliers have all resumed operation, construction materials can meet the needs of the project.

The seven themed lands within the resort include Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers Metrobase, Minion Land, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, Hollywood and Waterworld. Each land will contain a mix of cultural creativity and technological innovation. Technologies such as 3D imaging, dynamic simulation, and robotics will be used in themed lands, and facial recognition, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, 5G and other technologies will be given full play in the operation and management of the resort to deliver immersive experiences and high-quality services to visitors.
