On April 15, Pinggu District held the  2025 Plenary Meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Pinggu  District Committee & the District Leading Group for Improving  Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges. The meeting  conveyed the guiding principles of the plenary meeting of the Foreign  Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the plenary  meeting of the Municipal Leading Group for Improving Beijing’s Role as  the Center for International Exchanges, as well as reviewed work  priorities for 2025 and work report of 2024 of the Foreign Affairs  Committee of the CPC Pinggu District Committee and the District Leading  Group. Tang Hailong, Secretary of the CPC Pinggu District Committee,  Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Pinggu District  Committee, and Head of the District Leading Group presided over the  meeting.

During the meeting, it was  pointed out that the Foreign Affairs Office of Pinggu District has made  steady progress, with interdepartmental collaboration leading to  significant achievements and highlights in the district’s international  exchanges. Currently, Pinggu is advancing high-tech agriculture,  high-capacity logistics, and new forms of entertainment, which places  higher demands on foreign affairs work. It is essential to deliver  services to the highest standards, maintain confidence, and embrace  self-improvement. The focus should be on telling the unique stories of  Pinggu and contributing to Beijing’s external exchanges.

The  meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing political awareness and  understanding the new dynamics and requirements. It stressed the need to  study and apply Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, resolutely implement  the central decisions on foreign affairs work, bolster Beijing’s  position as the “four centers”, and improve the ability to provide the  “four services”. In line with its strategic, functional, and regional  positioning, Pinggu should strive to become a hub for international  agricultural technology exchanges, a platform for showcasing the  capital’s culture and rural culture, and a window for demonstrating the  agricultural modernization in Beijing.

Greater  efforts should be made to improve Beijing’s role as the center for  international exchanges. Foreign affairs activities should be planned  with high frequency and to the highest standards, creating more  high-quality and distinctive spaces for international exchanges. It is  crucial to effectively implement key municipal tasks by hosting  distinctive activities that showcase Pinggu’s characteristics, while  continuously enhancing major events to ensure that they are more  international, professional, and market-oriented Notable examples  include the World AgriFood Innovation Conference, the China (Beijing)  Leisure Conference, and the World Conference on Animal Welfare in the  Sustainable Agri-food Systems.

Advancing  high-tech agriculture, high-capacity logistics, and new forms of  entertainment requires solid efforts. In line with overall planning, all  departments should meticulously carry out their respective tasks with  the utmost diligence. Pinggu should leverage international exchange  resources such as sister cities, foreign business associations,  foreign-funded enterprises, and foreign-related organizations, to  enhance its international influence. Furthermore, attracting large-scale  investments and top-tier businesses is also important. This can be  achieved by utilizing outbound visit programs to proactively promote  investment, thereby improving the quality and effectiveness of foreign  investment attraction efforts.
