Recently, Daxing District held the 2024 Plenary Meeting of the Daxing District Leading Group for Improving Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges & Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Daxing District Committee. Main items on the meeting’s agenda include conveying the guiding principles of the Foreign Affairs Work Conference, the plenary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and the Municipal Leading Group for Improving Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges, reviewing the 2023 work report of the District Leading Group and Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Daxing District Committee, and announcing the monitoring and evaluation results of its efforts to improve Beijing’s role as the center for international exchanges in 2023, as well as plans for future priorities. Wang Youguo, Secretary of the CPC Daxing District Committee, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Daxing District Committee, and Head of the District Leading Group presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Liu Xueliang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Daxing District Committee and District Mayor, attended the meeting.
It was pointed out at the meeting that priority should be given to key areas in order to improve Beijing’s role as the center for international exchanges. This includes establishing more international exchange and cooperation platforms to fully showcase Daxing District’s global image as “China’s New Gateway”. Efforts should also be made to attract resources to improve foreign affairs services.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the political foundation of the CPC’s leadership over foreign affairs should be strengthened with a bigger picture in mind. It is imperative to study and implement the Guidelines on the CPC’s Leadership over Foreign Affairs, ensuring that the foreign affairs work stays on the right path. Additionally, coordination should be improved based on an overall planning of foreign affairs work, with the goal of building a comprehensive working mechanism for foreign affairs.
It was stressed at the meeting that efforts should be made to better serve the capital’s development as the “four centers’, with a focus on the new stage of development and new patterns. Foreign affairs resources should be further utilized to promote high-quality development across the district. To achieve this, more efforts should be made to attract international talent, enhance services for international professionals, and develop international sci-tech resources, thereby supporting the district’s high-quality development.
At the meeting, other important issues were also deliberated, including the 2024 key tasks of the District Leading Group and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Daxing District Committee. Additionally, the regulations for the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Daxing District Committee and detailed regulations for its Office (revised), as well as the regulations for the District Leading Group and detailed regulations for its Office (revised), were reviewed.
