Recently, supported by the Foreign Affairs Office and the Education Commission of Shijingshan District, a Chinese language study program was held by Shijingshan District and its sister city, Chita, Russia. The program aims to enhance the friendship between the two places through youth exchanges. On June 27, a group of students from Chita No.4 Middle School visited Beijing No.9 Middle School Branch Campus, marking the beginning of the three-week study program.

The program will take place at Beijing No.9 Middle School Branch Campus and Shijingshan Community College, featuring elementary cultural courses such as Chinese language, calligraphy, martial arts, and music, as well as hands-on courses on traditional folk customs including Chinese tea art, paper-cutting, and dumpling-making. Through diverse activities, the program aims to tell Beijing’s story better and help Chinese culture go global.

At the welcome ceremony, students from both schools presented various performances such as Peking Opera, dance, calligraphy writing, and chorus. They also visited the “Nation and Culture: Close Neighbors” Youth Painting Exhibition co-hosted by Shijingshan District and Chita City to experience the culture and art of both China and Russia.

Going forward, Shijingshan District will continue to further practical cooperation with its sister cities, and strengthen cultural exchanges and mutual learning to expand its international network of friends.
