Recently, the People’s Government of Pinggu District and the Hauraki District Council of New Zealand signed a memorandum on friendly exchanges. Di Tao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Pinggu District Committee and District Mayor, and Toby Adams, Mayor of Hauraki District signed the memorandum on behalf of the two districts. John Tregidga, former Mayor of Hauraki District, Li Ziteng, Deputy Mayor of Pinggu District, and relevant officials from the European International Cooperation Promotions witnessed the signing.

The two sides had in-depth discussions regarding student exchange programs and industrial cooperation. Di Tao said that Pinggu District attaches great importance to the friendly exchanges and cooperation with Hauraki District. He hoped that following the signing of the memorandum, the two districts would strengthen communication and expand cooperation to forge a stronger partnership. He also briefed the guests from New Zealand on Pinggu District’s cooperation with Wageningen University & Research and the World Leisure Organization, as well as the violin production and export of the music valley.

Toby Adams was impressed by the vibrant economic and social development of Pinggu District, and found Pinggu’s experience in developing the education sector particularly inspiring. He said that Hauraki District was willing to expand people-to-people exchanges with Pinggu District, and deepen cooperation in education and food processing technology among other fields for win-win development.

During their trip, Mayor Adams and his delegation also made a number of field visits to Pinggu’s exhibition centers, tourist attractions, agricultural hi-tech parks and logistics bases, including Beijing Jinhai Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center, Shangzhai Culture Exhibition Hall, Jinhai Lake Scenic Area, Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center, Bee Happy, Yukou Poultry, Future Orchard, Beijing-Pinggu Integrated Logistics Hub, and the National Cold-Chain Logistics Hub. The delegation commended the balanced and high-quality economic and social development of Pinggu District.
