To improve its language environment and leverage the role of universities in urban development, Changping District started an English club called “Dialogue Space” at the Huitian City Reception Hall. Recently, the unveiling ceremony of the Dialogue Space took place, along with a number of English Corner activities where English enthusiasts from communities communicated in English with Chinese and foreign teachers and students from the China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUP).

Nurpeiis Ayazhan, an international student, said, “As a foreign student studying in China, I have developed a profound appreciation for the Chinese culture. I am willing to leverage my language skills and I value every opportunity to communicate with others. I believe that during this process, we can not only improve our language proficiency but also deepen mutual understanding and friendship.”

The Dialogue Space was co-initiated by the Foreign Affairs Office of Changping District Government and CUP (Beijing), with support from the District Work Office for Huilongguan and Tiantongyuan Areas and Huoying Subdistrict. It aims to gather foreign language talent from various sources to help community residents enhance their English skills, thus promoting the integration of Chinese and foreign cultures and making the district more international. Going forward, the English Corner will continue to serve as a platform for Chinese and foreign residents to communicate with and learn from each other, fostering multicultural exchanges and mutual learning and creating an inclusive and open environment. At the Dialogue Space, Changping District will organize regular English-learning activities including film appreciation, book sharing, and thematic lectures, and carry out more social activities to enhance the cohesion and vitality of the club.
