On November 2, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan held an online reception to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The reception showed China’s great achievements during the past 71 years and its positive image in the new era, sharing China’s practices and experience in COVID-19 prevention and control. To promote cultural exchanges between China and Azerbaijan and help Azerbaijanis gain a better knowledge of Chinese culture, the reception included a special concert. The National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA), at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan and under the coordination of the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, presented great musical performances. The NCPA Orchestra under the baton of conductor Chen Lin performed the pieces from the “Sound of Summer Blooms: NCPA Concerts, Online Series”, including Drizzle in the South of Yangtze River, Little Sisters on the Grassland, and Ode to the Red Flag. Adapted from Chinese folk music, these musical pieces well demonstrated the features of different regions and ethnic groups in China, allowing the audience to perceive the beauty of Chinese music and the profession of Chinese musicians. The attendees spoke highly of the reception, especially the NCPA concert.
