On the morning of September 28, the second phase of the New China International Exhibition Center officially started. The project is one of Beijing's major projects to improve its role as the center for international exchanges. It is scheduled to be completed in 2024. After completion, Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center will become a comprehensive exhibition venue with the largest construction scale, the most perfect functions and the most advanced technology in Beijing.

Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center is located in the 23rd block of Shunyi New City, on the north of the Phase I project. The total land area of Phase II project is 637,400 square meters with 438,500 square meters of the total aboveground construction area. The project includes one conference center, one hotel, nine exhibition halls and three registration halls. With about 210,000 square meters of gross exhibition space, 15,000 square meters of gross conference area, and 450 guest rooms, the venue can be used to hold large-scale international exhibitions, international summits, business meetings, government meetings, etc. It will be built into a group exhibition complex with reasonable spatial planning, complete infrastructure, and coordinated industrial development.

The overall layout of Phase II project continues to use the central axis pattern of Phase I, with the south and north registration halls, exhibition halls, and landscape corridors that connect the conference hotel and Phase I on the central axis. The architectural design of the project is exquisite, and the modelling draws on the classic Chinese elements of the glazed tiles of the Palace Museum, which perfectly integrates the exquisite and complex traditional elements into the texture of the building, demonstrating the splendor of the capital city. The elegant, dense, and intertwined lines of the exhibition halls imply that knowledge is linked and shared in the Information Age.

The second phase of the New China International Exhibition Center will further expand the Beijing's exhibition space and provide hardware facilities to strengthen Beijing's position as the “four centers”, attract more high-level international festivals, competitions, exhibitions, and conferences to be held in Beijing, and boost the city’s exhibition industry so as to make it a driver of socioeconomic development.

Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center is developed and constructed by Beijing Chenxing International Exhibition, a joint venture created by Beijing North Star, a state-owned conglomerate enterprise, Beijing Construction Engineering Group, and China Construction Second Engineering Bureau, a central enterprise. The three enterprises will join forces to work in product design and development and construction. Beijing North Star’s project manager stated that Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center is scheduled to be completed in 2024. By then, it will become a comprehensive exhibition venue with the largest construction scale, the most perfect functions, and the most advanced technology in Beijing. It will greatly enhance the overall competitiveness of the city's exhibition industry and become another symbol of Beijing's foreign and international exchanges.

When Phase II project is put into use, coupling effects will occur. China National Convention Center Phase 1 and 2 will be mainly responsible for hosting international, high-end, and large-scale conferences, while Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center will be mostly used to host various types of professional exhibitions, international exhibitions, and emerging exhibitions.

Capital Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd. was renamed and established this year. As an important holding company of Beijing North Star, it will be entrusted to be the operator of Phase II project of New China International Exhibition Center and participate in the planning, design and construction of the project throughout the process. Phase II project will also provide a solid hardware foundation for the long-term development of Capital Exhibition Group.
