The 2023 Plenary Meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fangshan District Committee and Plenary Meeting of the District Leading Group for Promoting Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges was recently held in Fangshan District. Zou Jinsong, Secretary of the CPC Fangshan District Committee, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Head of the District Leading Group for Promoting Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges, presided over the meeting. Yang Bo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Fangshan District Committee and District Mayor of Fangshan, also attended the meeting.

The meeting emphasized the importance of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, and following and serving China’s overall diplomacy. The district should keep in mind the capital’s positioning as the “four centers”, strengthen the awareness of Beijing being the capital, stick to the highest standards, and provide high-quality services for major national events, thus improving Beijing’s role as the center for international exchanges. Efforts should also be made to strengthen the Party’s leadership in foreign affairs. Under the overall planning and guidance of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Fangshan District Committee, and the supervision of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fangshan District, all district departments will work together to align foreign-related tasks with central tasks.

The meeting stressed that the district should perform its role and tap into its rich historical and cultural resources to facilitate international exchanges. It was also necessary to pool high-end international resources, promote the advancement of major projects, and ensure the success of signature activities. Furthermore, leaders at all levels in the district should continue to enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in foreign affairs to make new achievements in the district.

The meeting conveyed the guiding principles of the Plenary Meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Meeting of the Municipal Leading Group for Improving Beijing’s Role as the Center for International Exchanges. Moreover, the meeting reviewed the work summary for 2022, key work for 2023, the member list, and the integrated monitoring, evaluation and improvement plan for Fangshan District in promoting Beijing’s role as the center for international exchanges.
