On the afternoon of January 12, a memorandum was signed between Mentougou District and Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany to establish their sister-city relationship. The signing ceremony was attended by Yu Huafeng, Party Secretary of the CPC Mentougou District Committee, and Lyu Chenfei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Mentougou District Committee and Mayor of Mentougou District.

At the ceremony, Lyu Chenfei and Bernd Tischler, Lord Mayor of Bottrop, signed the Memorandum on the Establishment of Sister-city Relationship, and the Memorandum on Joint Government Projects to Transform Traditional Energy-oriented Cities into Innovative Cities.

Tischler expressed his hope for the two sides to maintain close ties, learn from each other’s good practice in industrial transformation, and promote pragmatic cooperation.

In recent years, Mentougou District has been committed to green development. To build itself into the western gate of the capital with high standards, the district has implemented the vision of becoming an ecologically healthy, culturally vibrant, and technologically advanced area. Likewise, Bottrop is prioritizing the development of new energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, and building a city featuring new energy. Therefore, there is huge potential for cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, and the signing of these memoranda marks a significant milestone in their partnership. Both sides will engage in multi-tiered and all-round cooperation in various areas, including economy and trade, science and technology, vocational education, culture and tourism, and agriculture. Together, Mentougou and Bottrop will work towards high-quality socio-economic development.
