Recently, the Itabashi-ku government of Tokyo has devised and unveiled on Instagram, an overseas social networking platform, a series of "Traveling around the World without Leaving Home" exhibitions, introducing its overseas sister cities online. From June 21st through 25th, Shijingshan District of Beijing was introduced to the Japanese people in terms of its urban landscape and cultural attractions formed through transformation and development in recent years, with a focus on the Badachu Park of Beijing as well as the Lingguang Temple, a more than 1200-year-old ancient Buddhist temple in Beijing.

Shijingshan District officially signed the sister-city exchange and cooperation agreement in 1997 with Itabashi-ku. Over the years, both sides have made frequent contacts, and cultural and artistic exchanges have been made in more than ten years running in terms of photography, calligraphy, painting, etc. Innumerable great achievements have been made through pragmatic exchange and cooperation in various fields. During the Covid-19 epidemic, Shijingshan District and Itabashi-ku expressed sympathy and solicitude to each other and went on with their exchanges online. In February 2021, Itabashi-ku conducted a friendly-exchange exhibition of photographs by residents of Shijingshan District, further deepening the friendship between Shijinghsan District and Itabashi-ku. In the future, both sides will plan for richer and more colorful exchange activities both online and offline to further open up new prospects in their friendly exchanges.
