Fengtai District has followed closely how the epidemic evolves in its international sister districts since the sudden onslaught of COVID-19. Noting that Belgium was in a serious situation with its confirmed COVID-19 cases reaching record numbers, the district government, in the spirit of joining hands to battle the coronavirus, donated 10,000 medical masks and 200 sets of medical protective suits to its sister district Blankenberge in Belgium to assist in its epidemic prevention and control. Fengtai and Blankenberge formed the friendly relationship in April 2014, and their extensive exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, and youth activities have yielded positive results.

The donated supplies were delivered to an international shipping company on the afternoon of October 16 and were expected to arrive in Blankenberge at the end of October. The donation was supported by Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges (Beijing NGO) and Minhe Foundation for International Exchanges. Zhou Xinchun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fengtai District Committee and Executive Deputy District Mayor, and Gao Shuangjin, Vice President of Beijing NGO, were present to witness the start of shipment.
