New York City

Beijing was twinned with New York City on February 25, 1980.

The Empire State Building was illuminated in "China Red" on February 9 for the 24th consecutive year in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Buenos Aires

The sister-city relationship between Beijing and Buenos Aires was established on July 13, 1993.

On February 9, eight landmark structures in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, were simultaneously illuminated with the color "China Red".

Moscow

On May 16, 1995, Beijing and Moscow formally established sister-city relations.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year in Moscow, the capital of Russia, the Ostankino Tower (R) presented a light show on February 9. Concurrently, the "Chinese New Year in Moscow" cultural event kicked off in downtown Moscow, marking the beginning of a series of events for the "China-Russia Cultural Year".

London

On April 10, 2006, the friendship between Beijing and London was established.

On February 8, the London Eye, an iconic landmark in London, turned red to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Festive parades were held in Trafalgar Square, Chinatown, and other locations in central London.

New South Wales

Beijing and New South Wales established a friendship city/state relationship on August 3, 2012.

On February 6, the Government of New South Wales, Australia, held a lighting ceremony for the Sydney Opera House on Sydney Harbour. The opera house was illuminated in the color "China Red", which symbolizes good luck, vitality, and prosperity.
