On August 15, a delegation from Gauteng Province of South Africa was invited to visit the New Actuation Fintech Center located in the National Fintech Demonstration Zone (Jinke New Area) of Xicheng District. The purpose of their visit was to gain a deeper understanding of Beijing’s modern financial industry.

Beijing and Gauteng Province established the sister-city relationship in December 1998. Since then, the two sides have engaged in a range of fruitful exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and culture.

During the visit, Song Mei, Vice Mayor of Xicheng District, briefed them on the economic and social development of Xicheng with a focus on key industries such as finance. She also extended an invitation to cities in Gauteng Province to participate in major events such as the Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2023 and the Global Fintech Conference.

Zanele Fakude, Head of Gauteng Growth and Development Agency, highly praised Xicheng’s achievements in economic and social development and its vitality in fintech innovation. He expressed the willingness to promote friendly cooperation among cities in Gauteng Province and Xicheng District in the fields of fintech, history, culture, and ancient city conservation under the sister-city framework between Beijing and Gauteng.
