On the morning of November 19, an experience-sharing meeting on optimizing the doing business environment was held via video link as one of the activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Beijing and Wellington. Officials from Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Beijing Water Authority and experts from construction companies had practical and efficient online discussions with their counterparts from Wellington.

Representatives from Beijing first introduced the city's reform in low-risk construction projects, the tiered risk management system for construction projects and their implementation. Measures such as providing one-stop services, accessing services with one integrated network, and decentralizing approval authority, have been adopted in Beijing to streamline examination and approval procedures to promote high-quality development. Representatives from Wellington introduced their legislation process in the construction industry and shared their experience in developing a world-class client-oriented construction permit system.

Participating departments from Beijing agreed that the successful experience shared by Wellington in project classification, insurance of engineering design and integration of approval departments was inspiring for further improvement of their work. Both sides hoped to take this event as an opportunity to enhance mutual learning and achieve wider and more in-depth exchanges and cooperation, so that they could jointly create a business environment that is market-oriented, law-based and consistent with international standards and develop an open world economy.
