Mayor of Genoa Listens to BUCT Final Works Presentation by Bachelor Students in Product and Communication Design

On March 16, Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) and the University of Genoa co-hosted the final works presentation of the Thematic Laboratory of Design by bachelor students in Product and Communication Design at the University of Genoa in Italy and the eastern campus of BUCT, in a hybrid format featuring both online and offline activities.

Macro Bucci, Mayor of Genoa, was invited to attend the offline event at the University of Genoa and deliver a congratulatory speech. He praised the collaboration between the two universities, saying that the in-depth cooperation between the Chinese and Italian sides set up an international platform for students' development. He hoped that the two universities could grasp the trend of the times with an open and inclusive mind while actively embracing the new trend of educational cooperation and innovation for further progress in this regard. In this way, the two universities could inject new impetus into global sustainable development and make new contributions to common prosperity for humanity.

According to Wang Feng, Vice President of BUCT, the dual-degree program for undergraduates jointly launched by the two universities has produced its first batch of graduates. Nearly 60% of them are pursuing further education while all of those who sought jobs have been employed, which fully demonstrates the quality of the joint education program and talents produced by the two universities. Wang said that the University of Genoa was a vital global partner of BUCT. He hopes the two parties can continue advancing cooperation on the cultivation of international talents and on scientific research for new achievements.

With a population of around 600,000, Genoa is located in the Gulf of Genoa in northwest Italy. As the capital of the region of Liguria and the Province of Genoa, it is the largest commercial seaport and the sixth-largest city in Italy. It is also the hometown of the well-known navigator Christopher Columbus and the talented violinist Niccolò Paganini. Both the city and the Ligurian Riviera in which it sits are popular tourist destinations.
