Beijing and St. Petersburg held first online meeting on the promotion of cultural industries

On December 2, "Experiencing Beijing" · Beijing-St. Petersburg "Culture Plus", an online event to promote cultural industries, was jointly held in Beijing by the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Center (SOCAAC), Saint-Petersburg Committee for External Relations and Saint-Petersburg Committee for Culture. More than 100 representatives from the two cities' government departments, cultural/business associations, cultural firms, and investment institutions attended the event and approximately 1,000 people participated and interacted online. This was the first cultural industry event between Beijing and St. Petersburg since they signed the exchange and cooperation agreement in 2009.

Yin Fei, level-I Inspector of the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, attended and addressed the event. He said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Putin, the China-Russia relation has come to the best time in history, setting an example for the good-neighborliness, friendliness, and mutual benefits between major countries. The online promotion event is an important step taken by Beijing and St. Petersburg to jointly withstand the test of the pandemic, strengthen economic and trade cooperation, and implement the minutes of their task force meeting. As the cultural center of China, Beijing boasts rich cultural resources, a vibrant market and immense potential of cultural industry. He urged the two cities to deepen cooperation, make investments and develop industries in each other, and push more cooperation projects to bear fruits and generate results, so as to make new contributions to China-Russia local ties. Liu Shaojian, Director of Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Center, and Mei Song, level-I inspector of the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Director of the Beijing Cultural and Creative Industry Promotion Center, introduced the overall situation of cultural industry development and relevant policies in the capital.

Participating government officials and company representatives from St. Petersburg said that St. Petersburg should draw on the series of policies and measures adopted by Beijing to promote the high-quality development of cultural industry. Beijing's achievements in cultural industry are admirable and remarkable, and St. Petersburg will intensify the friendly communication and practical cooperation with Beijing in this field.

Representatives from the two cities gave special recommendations for the National Base for International Cultural Trade (Beijing), Beijing Design Week, book copyright of Beijing Publishing Group, the ethnic orchestral music suite "Beijing Central Axis" of Beijing Performance & Arts Group, China-Russia Global Trade Center,China-Russia Friendship Convention & Exhibition Center, and copyright of Russian film and musical arts.
