On the afternoon of October 29, 2020, an exchange event featuring diplomats' visit to the Zhongguancun Science Park was held at the exhibition center of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone. Twenty diplomats from 12 countries, including Bahamas, Malaysia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Spain, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Belgium, Canada and Australia, participated in the event.

Home to the Zhongguancun Science Park, Haidian District devoted particular attention to sci-tech innovation.
Concentration of science and education resources:Haidian is home to 27 universities, including Peking University and Tsinghua University, and over 100 research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Competitive environment for innovation: With a regional R&D input of nearly 10%,the number of invention patents per 10,000 people in Haidian is more than 400. There are over 10,000 state-level high-tech enterprises and 40 unicorn companies in Haidian. On average, about 50 new technology enterprises are established there every day. Haidian is also home to nearly 800 artificial intelligence companies, accounting for 20% of the nation's total.
Improving economic structure with high precision industry as the mainstay:Focusing on information technology, the Zhongguancun Science Park promotes the development of high-tech industries, which covers artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, UHD display and Fintech. In the first three quarters of 2020, Haidian's GDP reached RMB615.21 billion, up by 4.6% year on year. The main economic indicators continue to improve, and the new businesses and models emerging in the fight against the epidemic are growing steadily, facilitating the faster recovery of Haidian's economy.
Enlarged circle of friends concerning international cooperation:Over 40 famous multinational companies, including Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), have established headquarters or R&D centers in Haidian, and more than 120 international technology transfer agencies are in Haidian. Haidian has cooperated with many countries worldwide, including the United States, Germany, France, Brazil, Canada, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Israel, Denmark, Singapore, Czech and the UAE, through the Belt and Road Initiative and other channels.
Haidian's fight against COVID-19 with AI
"During the COVID-19 epidemic this year, the AI-aided pneumonia diagnosis and epidemic monitoring system of InferVision helped many hospitals and doctors in China. Our AI-aided pneumonia diagnosis products have also been exported to Italy, German, Japan and other countries to help them fight against COVID-19 with technology from China."
Chen Kuan, founder and CEO of InferVision, was a representative of the enterprises in the Zhongguancun Science Park using AI for medical services. He attended the event and shared the innovation and development of his company and the AI technology for medical diagnosis.
Chen Kuan believed that the most important value of AI lied in its ability to help create a global community of health for all. After learning the COVID-19 cases on the frontline against the epidemic in Wuhan, AI can rapidly improve the capability of primary hospitals in China and medical institutions in other countries to prevent and control the epidemic. AI can learn cases occurred in any place of the world and help improve health care services elsewhere.
Frontline of sci-tech innovation
Diplomats attending the event work in different sectors, including science and technology, business and trade, investment, energy, education and so on. They visited the exhibition center of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone and learned about the latest achievements in science, technology and innovation of the Zhongguancun Science Park.
