Yang Peng, Director of the General Office of the Beijing Center for Global Health under the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Beijing CDC), was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend the second online epidemic response briefing for diplomatic missions in China on April 10. He shared Beijing's anti-epidemic experience with 180 envoys and diplomats.

The briefing was chaired by Hong Lei, Director-General of the MFA's Protocol Department. Noting that China has always paid close attention to the health and safety of the diplomatic missions in the country, he hoped the briefing would help them better respond to the epidemic.

Citing specific cases and data, Yang Peng shared his views on the epidemic in the world, in China and in Beijing, and explained the channels of transmission, features in the incubation period, symptoms, tests and treatments. Briefing on local patients infected by virus carriers traveling from abroad, he underscored the importance of home observation or medical observation in dedicated facilities. Yang also advocated the “nine-point rules”: wearing a mask, frequent hand washing, frequent ventilation, one-meter distance, no gathering, effective sterilization, nutrition, exercise, and good state of mind. He offered science-based and professional opinions on epidemic prevention and control.

Finally, Hong Lei showed the participants the Health Kit, a health mini-program designed for foreigners in Beijing to facilitate their travel and life.

The foreign attendees praised the briefing as being scientific, professional, rich in content and helpful for their anti-epidemic efforts, and thanked China for its considerate arrangements.
