On October 30, 2019, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the working group of Chinese Embassy in Libya issued a safety notice, valid through April 30, 2020, advising against trips to Libya based on the security situation in the country. In view of the current situation in Libya, a new safety notice is issued and will remain valid through October 30, 2020. The notice reads as follows:

Recently, military conflicts in and around the Libyan capital Tripoli have been escalating and the situation in Libya remains complicated and dangerous. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the working group of Chinese Embassy in Libya advise Chinese citizens not to travel to Libya for the moment. Chinese citizens and organizations staying in Libya shall closely follow information about the local situation, step up security safeguards and emergency preparedness, and get ready for timely evacuation. Given the immense security risks for travelers which make it difficult for the Chinese Embassy to provide effective assistance, any Chinese citizen who insists on traveling to Libya shall bear all the expenses incurred as a result of the provision of consular protection and assistance.
