Beijing Foreign Affairs Office recently initiated the “Consular Protection for All” campaign to provide consular assistance for sub-districts, communities, enterprises, and schools, focusing on the needs and concerns of the primary-level institutions, companies, and the public. It was part of the efforts to press ahead with the initiative of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and to deliver on the commitment to serving the people with foreign affairs work.

A variety of activities were launched under the campaign. In communities with a large number of residents working, studying, and settling abroad, Beijing Foreign Affairs Office organized exhibitions to promote consular protection, invited experts to give lectures on consular protection and safety abroad, and skills for emergency response. Officials from Beijing Foreign Affairs Office also paid visits to companies with extensive overseas operations to learn about their needs before offering "service packages" to further raise employees’ awareness of overseas risk prevention and help the companies grow safely. On-campus research was conducted on international exchanges and pre-departure safety training for students who are going to study abroad. Real-life examples were given to raise students’ awareness of risk prevention in terms of personal safety and mental health. To expand the reach of the activities, the foreign affairs offices of the municipal and district governments also collaborated to raise public awareness of self-protection and enhance the ability of the public and relevant institutions to respond to overseas risks through safety knowledge quizzes, brochure distribution, and video promotion.

According to the official in charge of the relevant work from Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, in line with the requirements of the initiative of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, continuous efforts will be made to improve consular protection, and preventive measures will be taken to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Beijing’s citizens and institutions overseas.
