On June 28th, the 7th monthly lecture on consular protection for the year 2021 was held at the Xinhuashe Community, Financial Street in Xicheng District, bringing consular protection knowledge to households. Nearly 1,200 residents participated.

Most of the residents in the Community are employees of the Xinhua News Agency and their family members, many of whom have opportunities to study or work abroad. Based on their actual needs, the activity delivered overseas security and consular protection knowledge in various ways such as exhibition boards, expert lectures, Q&A interaction, etc.

During the lecture, experts presented anti-fraud methods and techniques with real cases. Given that telecommunication fraud is frequent overseas, experts reminded audiences to raise their vigilance and strengthen prevention. When people encounter fraud overseas, they should report it to the local police department in time and entrust their relatives and friends to report the fraud to Chinese public security departments.

After the lecture was the interactive Q&A session, through which experts and residents exchanged views on several questions, including how to deal with traffic and work-related accidents overseas and how to seek help when encountering difficulties in entering, exiting or transferring via a country with valid passport and visa.

"This is my first time taking part in an interactive Q&A session on consular protection. I find the activity useful, interesting and informative. I will share the knowledge with my family members so that they can protect themselves well when working abroad. Moreover, the fraud detection tips that I have learned from today's lecture are very helpful, which raise my awareness of risk prevention," said Sun Xiuzhi, a resident of the Community.

"Many thanks to the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office for bringing the consular protection knowledge to us. My child is going to study abroad, and I plan to travel abroad after retirement. I knew little about consular protection before. Today's lecture answered my long-standing questions, which is very useful to my family," said Wang Hua, a community resident.

The Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality will continue to organize diversified activities on consular protection, addressing public concerns. Through overseas safety seminars, pre-departure exchange sessions, overseas emergency response training courses, emergency response drills, and other events, the Beijing Foreign Affairs Office provides great services to citizens, helping them dispel doubts and solve problems.
