To improve the language environment for international exchanges and upgrade international services in Huairou District, a special training session on the Regulations of Beijing Municipality on Improving the Language Environment for International Exchanges (hereinafter referred to as "the Regulations") was held recently. Over 50 staff members from authorities in charge of key public places, township and sub-district offices, key commercial areas, and important foreign-related scenic spots in the district participated in the training.

The training aimed at implementing the Regulations and arranging the work on improving Huairou's language environment for the year 2023. Officials from the Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office were invited to interpret the duties stipulated in the Regulations, and foreign language experts from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences were also invited to advise participants on how to standardize foreign-language signs under the Regulations. In addition, the district's Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau explained the standards and requirements for foreign-language sign-related enforcement, and the district Foreign Affairs Office assigned tasks of improving the international language environment throughout the district in accordance with the Regulations.

The training, which included lectures, case analysis, discussions, and work arrangement, gave participants a deeper and clearer understanding of how to improve Huairou's international service environment, further clarified their responsibilities, and pointed out the direction of their work. Moving forward, Huairou District will focus on four priorities--more convenient public services, standardized foreign-language signs, wider social participation, and stronger capacity building, thus making steady headway in improving the district's international language and service environment.
