Task forces of CMREC hold first meeting

On November 5, the task forces of China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor (CMREC) virtually held the first meeting. Deputy Director of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Ning Jizhe, Mongolian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Munkhjin, and Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Timur Igorevich Maksimov attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting reported on the progress on the corridor construction, studied and discussed relevant cooperation documents, and exchanged views on commonly concerned topics.

All three parties agreed that China, Mongolia and Russia are good neighbors linked by rivers and mountains and partners of mutual assistance. The regular institutional meeting of the heads of state of the three countries lays a solid foundation for building consensus and promoting cooperation. The three sides reviewed the progress on China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor in such aspects as infrastructure connectivity, unimpeded trade, people-to-people exchanges, and eco-environmental protection, and highly affirmed the phased achievements of corridor construction.

The three sides vowed to better align the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Mongolia's Development Road Initiative and Russia's Eurasian Economic Union, advance practical cooperation in all fields, and jointly combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Taking the opportunity of the first successful meeting of the three task forces, they will jointly and earnestly implement the cooperation projects under the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor framework.

Present at the meeting were representatives from China's NDRC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, National Energy Administration, National Railway Administration, and China National Petroleum Corporation; Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, Ministry of Transport Development, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Natural Environment and Tourism, and Erdenes Mongol; and Russian Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Road Administration Bureau, Ministry of Energy, Tourism Administration, Gazprom, Russian Railways. Officials from the three countries’ embassies also attended the meeting.
