On February 5, 6 and 17, about 150 foreign nationals in Beijing from 33 countries including Brazil, Canada, France, South Korea, Mexico and Vietnam were invited to the Beijing Winter Olympic venues to watch ice-hockey, curling and figure skating competitions. Together with Chinese spectators, they cheered for the athletes, experienced the Olympic spirit of endeavour and had an unforgettable Spring Festival for the Year of the Tiger.

The foreign spectators commended the meticulous organization and excellent services of the Olympics. They praised the efforts that China made to deliver a splendid Olympics during the pandemic, which demonstrated China's sense of responsibility as a major country. They were impressed by the effective COVID-19 prevention and control measures that China took to ensure the safety of athletes and spectators.


In the stadium, foreign spectators cheered for the Olympians, experienced the Olympic spirit, and enjoyed the world-class event organization as well as the thoughtful services of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Han Se-young from South Korea said "I want to thank the Beijing Organizing Committee and Beijing Foreign Affairs Office for helping me attend the unforgettable Winter Olympics. My love for Beijing is growing deeper."

Hammett from Chad said, "This is the first time I've watched a figure skating competition. The Olympians have done a great job. The event organization was awesome. What's more, multiple cutting-edge camera technologies have been applied for the Games."

Emily from Canada said, "I can cross 'attending the Olympics' off my to-do list. What an experience!"

Leila from France said, "Watching the women's ice hockey competition at the Winter Olympics is a pretty cool experience."

Experience the Olympic Spirit

Ryan from Myanmar said, "Chinese spectators have shown extraordinary friendliness and support for athletes from different countries. The Olympics is a great success." She was moved to tears on site.

Kasia from Benin was glad to see all teams competing on a level playing field. She said, "This exactly exemplifies the motto of Beijing 2022: together for a shared future."

Su Qiting from Brazil believed that Beijing 2022 fully demonstrated solidarity, the theme of the Olympics. She said, "I have appreciated the combination of contests and unity. Thanks for this opportunity."

Ma Xiaoli from Tajikistan said, "By watching the games, I develop a deeper understanding of 'faster, higher and stronger' and the Olympic spirit of greater solidarity at the trying time. In the field, Olympians are as energetic as soaring dragons and leaping tigers, fully showing the spirit of endeavour. They inspired me to learn from them."

Splendid Games

Leon from Benin said "Rules of curling are complicated. The Olympians faced mounting pressure but they withstood it. They remained cool-headed and presented best performances on top of mastering the rules. Their mentality and spirit of pursuing excellence are worth learning."

Lee Seo–hyun from South Korea was impressed by the Olympians' enthusiasm and hard working spirit. He said, "Watching teammates of different countries cooperate in the games, we can develop a better understanding of the Olympic spirit of cooperation and harmony."

Admirable Organization and Services

Stunned by the size of venues, Son Seung-Yeon from South Korea said it was thrilling to watch games on site.

Ruan Guangxiong from Vietnam commended and appreciated the COVID-19 response, the transportation services, volunteer services and other work that the Beijing Organizing Committee did. He said, "China's preparation is far beyond my expectations."

Edward from Mexico said China assumed its responsibility as a major country amid the pandemic by taking strict anti-COVID measures during the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Buro from Equatorial Guinea thought that the well-planned organization of spectators was the most impressive. He said, "When we were leaving our campus, buses were ready. Then tickets were handed out. Our guides informed us of matters needing attention. Everything after we arrived on site was also well-organized."

Fanny from Botswana said that watching the games was an incredible experience. That's because top priority was given to people's lives and safety. Also, there were world-class services in each sports venue. Moreover, the volunteers were friendly and helpful.
