Recently, foreign affairs offices of all districts in Beijing have earnestly studied and implemented the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the ceremony marking the centenary of the Communist Party of China. Focusing on the main tasks of foreign-related work under the new situation and the central work of the city, each foreign affairs office coordinates their foreign affairs resources and promotes Beijing's high-quality development in diversified forms through multiple channels and means.

Haidian District

Keyword: Improving Beijing's role as a center for international consumption

On July 16, Wang Hesheng, District Mayor of Haidian met with Tino Zeiske, president of METRO Cash & Carry China (METRO China), to discuss cooperation for improving Beijing's role as a center for international consumption.

Wang Hesheng introduced the socio-economic development of Haidian District. He said that METRO China is a leader in wholesale and retail industry. He hoped it stays rooted in Haidian, promotes service upgrades, provides consumers with better products and services to meet their diversified and personalized demands, and contributes to building Beijing into a center for international consumption. Haidian District Government will continuously improve the business environment and make it easier for enterprises to grow.

Tino Zeiske said that Haidian District is home to many prestigious universities and enterprises with high consumer demand and great market potential. METRO China will actively participate in Beijing's development as a center for international consumption. Going forward, it will consider setting up flagship stores to better serve residents.

Shijingshan District

Keyword: Building "Two Zones"

On July 26, Mr. Juha Tuominen, Chairman of the Finnish Business Council Beijing (FBCB), led a delegation for a visit to Shijingshan District.

The delegation watched the promotional film of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the sand table of Shougang Park, and visited Big Air, Skywalk, and other sports and landscape facilities. Relevant departments of Shijingshan District Government introduced relevant policies. Shougang Group introduced the development of its sports industry.

Shijingshan District firmly grasps the "two major opportunities", meaning the preparation for 2022 Winter Olympics and the building of a new landmark for the rejuvenation of the nation's capital in the new era. It focuses on the building of the "two zones" and pursues higher-level opening-up and development. FBCB's visit to the Shougang Park was one of the series of activities of International Chambers of Commerce Visiting Shijingshan District for the Building of the "Two Zones". In the future, FBCB and Shijingshan District will explore in-depth cooperation in hosting sports events and building industrial parks.

Changping District

Keyword: Sci-tech Innovation

On July 15, DoKi Lee, Food & Drug Safety counsellor, together with officials responsible for SMEs support, procurement, customs, and commercial matters of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China, visited Changping District, learning about the development of key industries in the Zhongguancun Life Science Park, such as biomedicine and new energy. They visited two companies at the park, which were Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise Co., Ltd and Purpana (Beijing) Technologies Co., Ltd, identifying cooperation needs.

Changping District introduced the master plan for the "Life Valley", its construction, operation, and enterprises in the Valley. Moreover, it introduced the development of biomedicine, new energy, and other industries in Changping and explained relevant policies.  The South Korean side stated that there was great potential for investment and cooperation between the two sides' companies. They hoped to further deepen mutual understanding and promote practical cooperation.

Pinggu District

Keyword: Developing the A-Park (Agricultural Park)

On August 3, Zhou Ying, Head of Dutch Sino Business Promotions (DSBP) and the China Affairs Office of the Province of South Holland led a delegation for a visit to Pinggu District. The delegation andrelevant departments of Pinggu District Government discussed cooperation in the field of agricultural science and technology innovation.

Pinggu District introduced its development in modern agriculture, the building of Beijing Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center, and the preparation for 2021 Zhongguancun Agricultural Science and Technology Forum. Zhou Ying introduced the development of agricultural science and technology industry in the Netherlands and the industrial cooperation between the Netherlands and China. She expressed her will to sign a framework cooperation agreement with Pinggu District and actively participate in Pinggu's development in agricultural science and technology innovation. The two sides discussed the introduction of Dutch smart greenhouse, the development of China's "Tomato World", among other topics. They agreed that there was great potential for cooperation. Going forward, the two sides will strengthen exchanges, promote the incubation of Dutch agricultural high-tech enterprises in Pinggu, and contribute to the building of Pinggu's agricultural innovation demonstration area.
