First Consular Protection Monthly Lecture in 2021 Successfully Held

On March 27, the monthly lecture on consular protection in 2021 was officially launched. With the theme of "Helping Each Other for Safer Trips," the event aims to raise public safety awareness and individual protection awareness of overseas trips. More than 200 parents of students studying abroad and compatriots at home and abroad participated in the offline communication and live online interaction.

Xin Yang, a senior lecturer of overseas personal safety protection, taught about consular protection under the epidemic, general knowledge of overseas safety and how to obtain international travel health certificate. In addition, Xin Yang demonstrated basic defense skills, reminded people to pay attention to the relevant information released by our embassies and consulates abroad and urged everybody "to avert non-essential or non-emergency travel"

Dr. Li Juan from Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control explained relevant information about epidemic prevention & control and vaccination, and encouraged everyone to get vaccinated "as long as eligible" and "as soon as possible."

After the lecture, audience on site and viewers online asked the experts questions on consular protection, overseas safety and vaccination. "Cloud" viewers also had an active discussion in the live communication area. They thanked the monthly lecture for its rich and practical contents, timely response to current concerns, and for providing quality "consular protection feast" at a high-level.

Since 2016, Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality has organized more than 50 themed consular protection activities in various forms online and offline, covering communities, campuses, airports, train stations and foreign language festivals with more than 10 million people involved.

In 2021, the monthly lectures on consular protection will continue going to communities, campuses and enterprises to give lectures on consular protection, emergency skill practice, epidemic prevention and control, overseas legal knowledge, interpretation of latest emergencies, etc. to meet the needs of different groups.
