Visa Applications for U.S. Tourists Simplified

According to a notice on the official website of the Chinese Embassy in the U.S., to further facilitate people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, starting from January 1, 2024, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates-General in the U.S. will simplify application documents required for tourist visa (L-visa). Tourist visa applicants in the U.S. will no longer be required to submit documents such as round-trip air tickets, hotel bookings, itineraries, and invitation letters. As visa applications are processed on a case-by-case basis, please refer to the Chinese Embassy and Consulates-General in the U.S. for further details.

On October 20, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. issued a notice on its official website, stating that to further facilitate foreign nationals’ travel to China, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates-General in the U.S. will provide walk-in visa application services starting from October 23, 2023. Visa applicants can log on to the China Online Visa Application (COVA) website to fill in the form and submit visa application documents at the visa section of the corresponding Embassy or Consulate-General. No prior online appointment is needed
