Recently, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

Yin mentioned that Beijing, as a pilot city for the building of an international commercial arbitration center, boasts a wealth of legal professional institutions and legal professionals. In recent years, the city has rolled out policies and measures to open up the arbitration sector, provided training for legal professionals engaged in foreign affairs, and improved the diverse dispute resolution mechanism that combines litigation, mediation, and arbitration. As a result, significant progress has been made in various pilot projects. Currently, we are developing a foreign-related arbitration procedure that aligns with international practices and improving the judicial environment for arbitration, so as to build a world-class destination for commercial dispute resolution. The ICC International Court of Arbitration is a prominent institution in the global arbitration field. It is expected that the Court can leverage its expertise and expand its presence in Beijing, deepen exchanges and cooperation in the arbitration sector, share with Beijing best practices in adopting international commercial dispute resolution rules, and support Beijing in building itself into an international commercial arbitration hub. Beijing will reinforce the development of foreign-related legal service teams and foster a law-based business environment, so as to provide high-quality services for overseas legal service institutions and international organizations in Beijing.

Claudia Salomon spoke highly of Beijing’s efforts in building itself into an international commercial arbitration center. She expressed the willingness of the ICC International Court of Arbitration to enhance collaboration with Beijing in resolving international commercial disputes and providing legal talent training, thereby supporting Beijing in fostering a world-class business environment.

Mu Peng, Secretary General of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
