On the afternoon of December 10, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia.

Yin highlighted that the Chinese market still holds great prospects for market demands and investment opportunities due to its vast size and the huge potential for domestic demand and economic growth. Keeping to its strategic positioning, Beijing has been vigorously developing high-tech industries and the “two zones” with high standards to promote its high-quality development and high-level opening-up. As a result, Beijing’s economy continues to recover and grow. Saudi Arabia is an important strategic partner for China in the Middle East, and has achieved fruitful results in recent years in investment and trade cooperation with Beijing. There is wide space and enormous potential for future cooperation between the two sides. Beijing is committed to maintaining close communication with relevant Saudi departments and regions to deepen win-win cooperation in such areas as industrial investment, sci-tech innovation, digital economy, smart city, and cultural heritage protection. In addition, efforts will be made to boost two-way investments of enterprises and enhance exchanges in urban governance, preparations for Olympic Games and other aspects, thereby bringing win-win cooperation to a new height.

Al-Falih spoke highly of Beijing's socio-economic success, emphasizing the rich sci-tech innovation resources and advanced urban governance capabilities of Beijing as the capital of China. He expressed his hope to expand and deepen cooperation with Beijing in various fields such as economy and trade, green development, sci-tech innovation, smart city, and protection of historical and cultural heritage in the future.
