Cai Qi, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, met with Chairman Yasuhiro Sato of Mizuho Financial Group of Japan via video on the morning of November 25, 2020

Cai thanked Mizuho Financial Group for its financial support to Beijing in resumption of work and production and maintaining the supply and price stability of agricultural products. He said, Beijing has made great strategic achievements in the battle against the pandemic under the strong leadership of the central government, life and work are quickly returning to normal, and Beijing's economy is moving steadily in a positive direction in the first three quarters this year. Currently, Beijing is implementing the new development philosophy to foster a new development paradigm and achieve high-quality development. Focusing on the establishment of "Two Zones" and "Three Platforms", Beijing will put more efforts in pilot programs and unswervingly promote higher-standard opening-up. As the financial administration center of the country, Beijing has a comprehensive financial market system and has attracted many domestic and foreign financial institutions and international financial organizations. Mizuho Financial Group is welcome to grasp the opportunity of further opening-up of China's financial sector to expand its business in Beijing and participate in the establishment of the Beijing Fintech Innovation and Professional Services Demonstration Zone; Mizuho Financial Group is welcome to press home its advantages to deliver better services to sci-tech and micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, stimulate more Japanese firms to make investment and do business in Beijing, and contribute to the establishment of the Beijing China-Japan Innovation Demonstration Zone. We will provide good coordination and services to support the development of Mizuho Financial Group and other Japanese firms in Beijing. 

Yasuhiro Sato spoke highly of Beijing's achievements in pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development. He said that the cooperation between China and Japan in investment and trade was resilient and that Japanese enterprises were confident in China. According to Yasuhiro Sato, Mizuho Financial Group regarded China as its most important foreign market. The company will continue to expand its business in Beijing, proactively participate in the building of the Beijing Fintech Innovation and Professional Services Demonstration Zone and the China-Japan Innovation Demonstration Zone, and publicize Beijing's opening-up policies and platforms to other Japanese firms.
