As pointed out at the meeting, to improve the role as a center for international exchanges is an integral part of Beijing's endeavor to strengthen its core functions as the “four centers” (the national center for politics, culture, international exchanges, and scientific and technological innovation) and also an important way to serve China's diplomacy. We will coordinate the construction of the Yanqi Lake International Conference Resort and Huairou Science City to inject vitality into the city as a core area for major state events, put in place government-led regular services and support mechanisms that operate in a market-based way, and foster a highly competent team with rich experience in organizing major state events. We will dive into our unique historical and cultural resources such as Lugou Bridge, Wanping City and the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and exploit our advantages in international exchanges to support major state events, further improve the multi-faceted pattern of international exchanges and expand our “circle of friends”. We will take the opportunity of hosting the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to strengthen the city's global influence. In addition, we will strive to present high-level international exhibitions and conventions, enhance the promotion of public policies, boost innovation in supporting policies for attracting high-caliber international professionals, consolidate the foundation of people-to-people exchanges, and take the opportunity of formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan to push for new progress in improving Beijing's role as a center for international exchanges.
